The deaths of two hunger strikers from the city in 1981 had a profound effect on the entire community. But as the decade wore on, there was increasing cause for optimism and a marked appetite for resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout this period, the<em> Derry Journal<\/em>\u2019s fearless photographers captured the turmoil and triumphs around them even in the harshest of times. Their legacy to us today is this collection of fascinating images which will stand as an enduring testimony to their determination and also to the city\u2019s spirit and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>As with the first three books in the series, this volume has been edited and annotated by <em>Journal<\/em> stalwart Sean McLaughlin, who has established himself as one of Derry\u2019s most gifted social historians.
