Derry Feis – The Golden Years

The Derry Journal and Feis Doire Colmcille are the very essence of the town we love so well. In a sense, they both represent the soul and spirit of the city.

The year 2022 is a key milestone for both institutions. The Journal celebrates its 250th anniversary and the Feis marks its centenary.

Derry Feis – The Golden Years is a new compilation of photographs from the comprehensive unique archives of the Derry Journal features the golden years of the Feis. It is packed with over 400 images from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s and transports you to the very heart of our past.

The photos are a wonderful pictorial record of one of Ireland’s premier cultural events and illustrate the talent and flair synonymous with the Feis. They capture just some of the many thousands of excited young children and aspiring adults who shared their love of music, dance and performance with adoring Derry audiences every Easter.

It is a first-rate companion piece to the Journal’s acclaimed previous photo compilations and an evocative snapshot of times gone by.
