On a school trip to Dublin, fifteen-year-old friends Dori, Sheila and Anita write out their secret aspirations, predictions and dreams for the future and seal them in an envelope – to be opened at a reunion a quarter of a century later.
After leaving school, each goes her separate way. Just when each woman is forced to admit that the planned reunion – perhaps even their friendship – is low on her list of priorities, the envelope suddenly reappears. With it comes a surprising urgency to fulfil their teenage plan.
What forgotten secrets will it contain? What will they reveal about their lives and relationships? What confession will each woman have to make as she faces her fortieth birthday? For the three friends, their reunion in Dublin and the opening of the envelope will be a day of reckoning . . .
